OUR MISSION
To provide a loving and safe temporary home for dogs until a quality forever home is found.
To provide a no-kill alternative for dogs which will benefit the community, dog pounds and shelters from overcrowding.
To contribute to the end of unwanted pets and pet overpopulation through education and spaying and neutering before adoption.
We are a small, family run rescue, helping as many dogs as we can, a few at a time.
A Labor of Love is a non-profit no-kill dog rescue. We take in dogs from kill shelters and owners who are no longer able to care for their pets, offering them a no kill alternative to the already overcrowded shelters. We then place them in a foster home until a loving permanent home is found. We don't charge pet owners a relinquishment fee but we do appreciate any donations that can be given to help with the care of each dog. We are not a shelter, all of our dogs are in a foster home. We are not able to take in any new dogs at this time. We do not take in stray dogs, if you have found a dog please contact your local dog warden or shelter. Thank you!
WHAT MAKES OUR DOGS SO GREAT?
We do our very best to match our dogs to the family that is perfect for them! Our dogs are living in foster homes and are socialized with people and other dogs. We really get to know our dogs, which helps us to place them in a home that fits them best!
Before our dogs are adopted they will have had a physical exam and any health issues will be treated with all the information documented for the new owner. They will be spayed or neutered, have all necessary vaccinations that are age appropriate including rabies, microchippped, heartworm checked if age appropriate, wormed, treated for fleas and will be on a monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
We also give special attention to the appearance and cleanliness of our dogs. As soon a dog is accepted into our program the spa treatment begins with a bath, nails trimmed and ears cleaned. We also provide special grooming for our friends with long hair!
Some of our dogs are even trained on Hidden Pet Fence of Northwest Ohio. The dogs just love being able to run around, play and socialize with each other. Our fence was installed by Dwayne Clevinger and you can contact him for more information at 419-258-9339 or email at dwyanec@go.com . You can also go to www.petsafepro.com and check it out!
ADOPTION FEES
Our adoption fees reflect the high quality of care our dogs receive while in our rescue. Besides the basic veterinary care our dogs receive they are also treated for things such as heartworm disease and broken bones to ear infections and dentals. We are highly committed to giving the best care for our dogs and in finding homes where they will continue to receive that same level of love and care forever!
HOW TO ADOPT FROM US
If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs you will need to fill out an adoption application. Part of our application process involves a home visit. We do not ship our dogs and we do not adopt without a home visit. Our dogs count on us to find them the most loving and high quality homes that they deserve!
If you would like to meet one of our dogs, please schedule an appointment or go to our events page to see when we have open visitations days. Thank you!
